I cannot connect my BSP to Windows 8.1
« on: July 15, 2016, 12:39:15 pm »
Hello,

I connected an used and updated BSP to my PC but my PC doesn't see it. It was being used on a Mac before with no problems. The lights and the buttons are turned on, but there is no virtual midi in/out ports and the Arturia MIDI center doesn't see the BSP.

I tried another BSP some months ago on this PC (Windows 8.1), and it worked fine. What can I do?

Update: Still unresolved. I tried to remove all unknow/generic USB device drivers from my PC, except those which are know, like Elektron ones. And again, like nothing were being pluged in. Then I tried in another person Mac with El Capitan, and same results. The Mac didn't react at all. Note: Since the Mac wasn't my computer I didnt install MIDI Control Center on it, but I assume that if I plug the BSP in a virgin Mac, something should happen... like it should say something like "Unknown device has been plugged".

Hi Juan , on your new pc do you have the Mcc installed?  Is your BSP upto date? have you tried the forced update mode (hold down rec/stop/play while turning the bsp on. What happens does the mcc see this ?

If nothing is happening you may have an issue with the lead or the usb connection plug point.

Ps on a mac it will not say if you plug a new device in but you need to see in the audio midi app in utilities and see if the driver is there. the bsp is usb class compliant .

regards

Hello terrym,

THanks for the reply. I've tried the forced update but still the MCC don't see it (and there is not any new driver when I do it). The BSP screens says "UPd" when I do this. I know the BSP has the lastest firmware, and I have the lastest MCC version. Tried in two PCs with MCC installed and different USB ports.

I filled the Arturia support form a week ago, but I don't have any reply yet. The ticket continues unanswered.

Hi, so you are using a usb lead directly into the pc right! and it powers up? it must be a usb driver issue or an incorrect lead .

Also try this see if theres a beast step driver there. not sure if there is as I'm a mac user but worth a try.

Windows :
Open the device Manager (press "Windows button" + "Pause/Break button" at the top right of the keyboard/ Choose device manager).
Then expand the "Audio, video and game" tab.
Plug and unplug the device.
The list is supposed to show the hardware product, under the “Sound, video and game controllers”

Thanks terrym for the effort, but I think it's something related to my BSP. I know very well Windows. I manually searched for the BSP driver when I plug or unplug it, under Universal Serial Bus and Audio/Video/Game tab. But there is no change when I plug the BSP and I turn it on or off.

Also I've performed searches in regedit.exe and nothing changes, except the mA that the BSP need to turn on its lights.

Ok, one thing to try is on your friends mac is open audio /midi utility and see if theres a driver there before you rule out the bsp.
