I don't think the clicks are "normal" per se, but I can confirm that my unit does the same
As for the Brute Factor, it's working as intented. It's a feedback loop, which is made to be somewhat unpredictable. The more volume that is sent into it, the more it's going to react.

I'm guessing that some Brute Factor plus the resonance is pushing it into either self oscillation or the feedback from the BF is getting triggered. Again, this is perfectly normal.
