No Din Sync connector in box -- Can't sync with 606 / 303!!
« on: April 06, 2016, 01:30:30 am »
I purchased a Beat Step Pro, but there was only a Midi connector in the box, no Din Sync connector. I tried to sync with a 606 and 303 using the included connector, but it doesn't seem to work, I assume I need the specific Din Sync connector?

I wrote customer support, and I got a response saying "the US support will get in touch with you" but they never did, and they stopped responding to my e-mails.

You don't seem to sell Din Sync connectors, and your customer support doesn't seem to care, so I sit here with a Beatstep Pro paperweight until someone at Arturia finally takes notice and helps me out. Regretting my purchase right now

So you only received one grey minijack-to-din connector?  Sounds like the box was opened before you bought it.  It's not really a technical problem that can be solved by forum users, but you can contact the store you bought it from and give them hell for possibly selling you demo stock.

If you want to get going now without having to wait for the store to find your missing cables, you will need a proper din5 cable (so you know all the pins are wired not just the ones used for midi), a decent minijack cable, a pair of wire cutters and a soldering iron.  Arturia are using pins 1, 3 and 5, (start/stop, clock and ground respectively) on the din5 cable.  They are connected to the ring, tip and shield of the minijack connector (again start/stop, clock and ground respectively).

Yes, I didn't intend to post here, but since they stopped responding to my e-mails and have never responded to my tweets, I figured this is my last chance.

There were 2 grey connectors in my box, and I am almost positive it was never opened by the shop, since I worked at the shop... Why can we not purchase extra connectors?? I would love to be able to sync in and out via Din Sync, for example.

Either way I have to say my experience with customer support (or lack thereof) from Arturia is pretty dismal. Thanks for the tips on making my own connector, I'll probably have to do that in the meantime. But I would really love it if Arturia responded to my requests...

There should have been a black connector also, but I'm sure you are aware of that....
Sometimes I think they are quite often on holiday there in France.  Unfortunate that there is no contact telephone number for Arturia USA (the listed American distributor, maybe call Canada and get the number from them).

I've found that electronics stores carry proper din5 cables and for cheaper than official midi or sync cables from an instrument store; one store over here has din5 cables at half the price of any instrument store in my city.  Being so cheap means the fear of chopping one and ruining it by messing up a soldering job is not as high (not that a simple wire to pin solder is that hard to mess-up).

That said, I wish you the best of luck trying to get a hold of customer service and attaining the one you paid for and that should have been in the box.
