sparkle pads midi bitwig studio

Hi
Can any body help me out with a little problem please

I have set in sparkle prefs  "send midi from sequencer and send midi from pads"

I have an instrument track set to record with spark loaded as a vst
and when I tap the pads I hear the drum sounds
but no midi data is recorded ?

If I change the input to my controller keyboard, the drum sounds and also midi data is recorded
can you tell me what I am doing wrong ?
