Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I launch Ableton Live and MIDI Control Center (MCC). In MCC I greatly reduce the maximum value of the mod wheel, which emits on MIDI Ch. 1, say to a value of 64. I send this to my MiniLab by storing it to the working memory or, say, memory slot 3 (and then press Shift-pad 3 on the mini-lab to load that memory).

I record the movement of the mod wheel in Ableton live: the maximum value received is not limited to 64, but still goes all the way up to 127.

I recall the working memory of the MiniLab and it confirms that the maximum output of the MiniLab is set to 64.

Why doesn't Ableton Live recognise a limit sent by the MiniLab? Is the MiniLab value transmitted actually limited? What am I doing wrong?
