[RESOLVED] New Minibrute: Severely Defective
« on: September 28, 2012, 09:43:07 am »
Modified by Bruno: Case fixed, it was an unplugged cable inside the machine.

I just got my minibrute today only to notice that it was SEVERELY defective, including:

- pitch bend range knob has no effect on pitch bend range
- octave buttons do not work + octave LEDS do not light up
- LFO rate has no effect at all (arp/free)
- LFO wave selection works sometimes
- Tempo knob has no effect whatsoever, though tap tempo works fine.
- misc odd behaviors such as the arp not turning off / randomly triggering despite being off

I am not a synth novice so this number of issues could not possibly arise from a lack of understanding. Of course I'm going to have the unit replaced (not looking forward to the synthless wait). My question is, how common are these units with dead functions? The unit is so severely defective, and it's by first minibrute. I'm leaning toward this being a completely outlier case; that my replacement unit should be essentially flawless, but I thought I'd bring this up either way.

That said, I absolutely love the sound and character of this unit. Thoughts anyone?

Hi ericneilj,
sorry for this issue.
It sounds like you have a cable inside the machine, that went out of his connector. It just needs to be plugged back.
You can easily fix it by yourself(5minutes work). If you open a case at the support desk I will give you required information to fix it.
If you don't feel like doing it yourself, you can have it exchanged or fixed by your dealer of course.

you're "only" the 4th (over all the production).
The machine was tested OK at the factory, and the cable disconnected during transportation... We are aware of this issue, on following productions, this connector will have a point of glue.

Let me know

I'm relatively comfortable working on electronics, even soldering so long as the points are not very small. I would love the required information to fix this unit, it's so beautiful and otherwise in perfect physical condition. I'll open a case at the support desk right now, thank you so much :)

I guess I'm the lucky 5th person to have this same problem. I just opened a ticket as well. I would love info on how to glue it down as well to prevent it from happening again.

hmmm I guess you just want to see what was inside the Minibrute ...
I bought one a long time ago C221 Revox, it did not work. opening it I saw that there was a cable( tablecloth )that was disconnected during transport.
