USB midi
« on: August 28, 2015, 12:37:01 pm »
When I connect up my MicroBrute SE via USB to my Windows machine,
and then startup Midi-OX, I see that there are actually TWO midi devices,
each with its input and output device.

The same holds true for my BeatStep Pro, btw.

Is the second port only for the MicroBrute Connection software (and corresponding MIDI Control Center for the Beatstep)?
Note On/Off etc are only transmitted on the first port.

Thanks,

Albert

I believe one device is for USB and the other is for the MIDI DIN 5.

I don't think that that's what it is. As there are two input and output channels under USB midi. Since the MicroBrute only has a 5-pin DIN midi in,
it would not explain the two midi output ports.

Got a reply from Arturia (Edouard, thanks!).

It confirms chisel316, but a little more detailed:

- The microBrute In / Out is standard
The out sends notes to the DAW & the In makes the synth play the notes sent.

- The second is a midi interface

There is no out on the microbrute but on the Minibrute for example the Midi will be sent out to the device connected on the Minibrute via Midi out.

For the in, if you connect a device on the Microbrute midi in, it will play the notes on the synth and transmit the midi notes through the USB.
