Randomness and Probability always at 50?
« on: July 22, 2015, 06:08:07 pm »
Whenever I turn on the BSP, it seems to default the project level randomness and probability to 50.
I have changed them to 0, saved the project - yet still it comes up as 50 each time I switch on.

I also set them both as 0 and the tempo as 120 in the Midi Control centre, and saved them to Project 1 and Working Memory, but when I load them back in, again it has reset to 50 and a tempo of 300?

Quite annoying to have to keep remembering to reset the randomness and probability to zero when I first switch on.

Looks like u got the same Problems like me...i've reported the same bugs yesterday....only ramdomness and probability was saved correct trough the MCC - but the Tempo Changes everytime i Switch between my projects 1 & 2 - and YES I SAVED IT via MCC AND directly on the BSP :( only the fact that i have an ERM MIDICLOCK and can use this for Live Shows will give me a good feeling Right now ! Maybe i did not press the save and project Buttons in the correct order?!

Hi,
For me it works fine (swing, randomness, probability are saved correctly).
Steps to save on the BSP :
Once you’re sure where you want to store the Project :
-Hold the SAVE button
-Press the PROJECT button and hold it
-Press the Step button number you want

When you create a project on the MCC, you have to save it as a template BEFORE uploading to the BSP.

Hi Valentin,

if you save it in the Beatstep Pro with the save button then it will work,

But if you save a project in the MCC (Via sync) and load the same (or other) project back to BSP then the globaly randomness and probaility will set allways to 50 %.

Changeing randomness and probaility to 0% in the MCC , save the project and load it back also does not helps, it will go back to 50 %

Aslo I try to revise a pattern as decribed in BSP manaual 12.2.3 page 61 but I did not get it to work.

Seems the MCC must be checked or firmware update is needed

I found a solution in an unrelated thread:

It seems that in some cases , the Randomness and Probability were both defaulted to 50 in the factory. Thus unwanted trigs and random notes !

To change this, clear any running sequence, and set both Random & Probability to 0 using their knobs, then make sure to save this on every projects (hold the Project & Save button, and click on the first step to save it on Project 1, as well as all the other steps, so that this is saved on every projects)

Just tried it, and it did the trick for me.

Just want to chime in to say I'm having the same problems here.
And I've spent way to much time trying to fix it.

I'll try this idea from ikjoyce above and see if it helps.

i used to have this problem myself. you've got to set the randomness and probability in the midi control center project page to 0 and then do a sync.

Swing at 50% is actually no swing, can't get any less than none.
Kinda confusing- means that a note is equally between two other notes.

Really?? I have been having problems with lagging/syncing and I thought that may have been the source of the problem.

thanks
