Minibrute vs. Minibrute SE
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:50:00 pm »
I was an early adopter of the Minibrute and I love it, but I really wanted the sequencer on the SE instead of the Arp. So I bit the bullet and bought a Minibrute SE, and I will need to sell my Minibrute regular edition to support that purchase.

I'm wondering if anyone can clarify a few things about the SE version:

1. I have read that the build quality is improved in this version. I even heard it has a Fatar keyboard. Are either of those rumors true?

2. Some folks complain about not having the arp - could you not just program your sequences as arps and have much of the same functionality?

3. Are there any other differences that I might find surprising, or besides the build quality, colour and the sequencer instead of arp are they identical?

Thanks!

It's like a morgue in here. I'll try reposting in the Minibrute SE forum I guess?

I know right! Its not exactly the most active of forums lol! ;)

To be honest i'm probably not the one to ask about build quality right now if you look at my other, mostly unanswered posts! My SE is back to the shop after various issues. :-[

I don't have the original brute but I don't thibk they differ much apart from the arp/seq stuff. SE does not have a fatar keyboard.

Yes you can program an arpeggio with the sequencer but its not really great for live experimenting arpeggios so it would be cool to have both  way of working.

Well, I got my Minibrute SE and I'm totally pumped on the sequencer. Easy to work magic out of this thing. One thing I'm really enjoying is holding the low C note in a low octave to run a bass sequence with my left hand, and then (still holding that low C) tapping the octave up button a couple of times and using my right hand to substitute higher notes into that bass sequence. Fantastic way to create wide dynamic rhythms on a limited 2 octave keyboard. Especially with some key follow on the filter :)

I never got this much enjoyment out of the arp, so I think this is really the right choice for me. I already have a wonderful arp on my mono/poly. To be honest, the thing I will miss most about the original minibrute is the way it looks :) I do like the new version, but I liked the old version's blue also.
