New Keylab 88 Dead On Arrival
« on: April 07, 2015, 07:41:50 am »
I just picked up my brand new Arturia Keylab 88 today and excitedly unpacked it only to find it is DOA.  The screen is showing a row of rectangles and switching on and off again doesn't fix anything.  Is there any way to fix this?

I had been warned about Keylab 88 quality issues but had assumed you only ever hear the bad news.  Surely they test each keyboard works before shipping them out of the factory? ???

I figured out what was wrong.  My Keylab 88 was in some kind of firmware update mode.  I plugged the Keylab into a PC and ran the MIDI Control Center software and did a firmware update using the latest firmware (v 1.0.0.17).  The firmware uploaded and told me to do a reset (Octave Up and Octave Down and power on/off) and it is now working.  I guess mine must have slipped past the guy who tests these things at the Arturia factory.

Either way, I'm now up and running. ;D
