Bug: Audio interupted by mouse movements in DXi mode
« on: October 19, 2004, 03:22:12 pm »
I believe the following behavior to be a defect in the MMV 2.0

Description:
Using MMV as a DXi synth (I run Sonar 2.0 as the host app) when making sound adjustments via the mouse the audio gets interupted whenever; a) the mouse enters a control knob; b) when the tooltip pops up after hovering for a second; c) whenever the mouse exits hovering over a control knob; and d) whenever the mouse moves over a patch cord.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add MMV as a DXi track and select a sound (preferrably one that sustains)
2. Play note on the controller triggering the MMV DXi track.
3. Move the mouse over a control knob and listen. Audio is interupted as described above.

Note:
A) This does not occur when playing back a recorded midi track.
B) This does occur in MMV 1.2 although to a much less noticeable extent.
C) This does not reproduce at all on the trial version of MiniMg

Work arounds:
Anchoring the cables so they do not respond to mouse movements prevents the sound artifact regarding the cables.  I have found no other work around.

Severity
High - Needs attention soon. Very distracting

System Info:
OS: Windows XP Professional (SP2)
CPU: Pentium 4  2.7 Ghz
RAM: 1GB
Software: Sonar 2.0 (when referencing DXi issues)
Controller: Alesis QS8
SoundCard: Aardvark Pro Q10
Video:Matrox Millenium G450 dual head

Please advise if there is a more appropriate way to report

defects.
Thanks.

In testing the pre-release version of MMV 2.1 this appears to be greatly improved.  There is still some interuption, more than the MiniMg but far, far less than there was.  This is quite acceptable .

Thank you very much.
