MIDI Learn appears broken in MiniMg V 2.5
« on: September 21, 2011, 10:40:17 pm »
I just installed the new MiniMg 2.5 release, and I'm trying to get MIDI learn to work.  As far as I can tell, it just plain doesn't work.

I have been able to assign one knob on my controller to one knob on the MiniMg panel, but when I try to assign a second controller knob to a second MiniMg knob, I wind up with a single controller knob controlling both MiniMg knobs.

Moreover, if I have two controllers connected at the same time, only one of them appears to work at all.

Am I missing something here?

This is genuinely weird -- MIDI Learn now appears to be working, and as far as I know I didn't change anything.  All I did was to launch MiniMg V as a VST plugin within Ableton Live, and now it seems to be working in standalone mode too.

I still don't seem to be able to use it with more than one controller at a time, but one is much better than zero.

Hello !

Indeed, you can map one controller at a time.
However, you can create several configurations for each one of your controllers,
and select them in the learn menu.

As you may already know, you can map one control to several parameters, each with minimum and maximum values.

We would be glad to have any new details about the issue you encountered first
Thanks for your feedback

The one-controller-at-a-time restriction is a potential problem for this reason:

Suppose I have one controller that is just a keyboard, and another one that is just knobs and buttons.  So far I have not been able to figure out how to use the keyboard to play notes and the knobs and buttons to control the sound.

The one thing I can add is that when it was not working, no matter which knob I turned on my controller, MiniMg V said it was "controller #7", which I think is volume.
