Is it worth it?

Hi everybody,

I think there're quite many of us thinking "to buy or not to buy...".

So, to those of you who have allready bought it:

Is it worth it? I mean, does it really give something new to us having all the other V-synths for example. To my ears this "Jump" demo was not perhaps so amazing for example.

Other thing is, that is there too many bugs at the moment? Does the Standalone app work without problems?

I can only give you my personal opinion: YES!

To put it a bit in perspective, I own all current Arturia soft Synths (...and impOSCar 1&2, Komplete 8, KarmaFX, etc...)

btw, now that I think of it, it reminds me a lot of what I felt about the impOSCar (although there's a lot of features on both that can't be compared, of course).

I own all of Arturia's VSTs, as well as a bunch of Cakewalk, Native Instruments, and M-Audio (blah, blah, blah).

And this Oberheim SEM sounds GREAT! Especially the classic Oberheim brass.

I AM a long-time user of the V Collection, I have been making home recordings for 35 years and since I got the V Collection I have realised that some things about Arturia are quirky and that using the instruments sometimes "requires some patience" and enduring the occasional blip or crash.
But I have always thought they were excellent emulations with a great sound that really cuts through the mix, especially when used within ProTools.
I have to say that the Oberheim is one of the best-sounding instruments Arturia have produced (I also love the MiniMg).
It has ferocious power, real bottom end to it, beautiful string and pad sounds that you can't really get elsewhere, and the arpeggio stuff is awesome.
Well done, Arturia: I think Oberheim gives you a whole heap of new credibility.
By the way, I am using it for ambient electronica, instrumentals, Kraftwerk cover versions and soundtrack music.
I also plan using it in a mix with my real guitars and vocals. I don't think anything will be drowning it out.
I only had to try the demo version for two hours to know I must purchase it, as it does tricks no other VSTi can do, and by all accounts it is pretty close to the original, too. If you see the YouTube comparison by the Japanese guy, you will hear for yourself - very hard to know which is the Arturia and which is the hardware original.
The thought of what presets the community will come up with is mouthwatering. Arturia, well done!
