Origin Desktop update 1.2.1 released
« on: May 17, 2010, 04:27:40 pm »
Origin desktop Update 1.2.1 has been released:
http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/origin/resources.html

Pleaase note that the included documentation (before the new manual is available) also descirbes some menus and screens specific to Origin Keyboard (such as velocity and aftertouch curves), therefore not available on Origin Desktop.

I'm very happy to hear the news, but there doesn't seem to be a link for it yet.  :-\

Did it get yanked?
One day, I want my keyboard studio to be a synth museum like Hans Zimmer's

It's not on the resource page anymore, but here are a couple of URLs you can use to fetch it:

Interesting update. Not really what I was expecting but nevertheless....

No JP8, CS-80, or ARP template. Therefore you will get an organ template!

The main screen is better organized now.

The biggest thing for me is that I could not load back my own sounds. The computer was idling on 0% for 15 minutes until I pulled the plug. I will try later again.

Missing templates are announced for firmware 1.5. I wonder, if it will be released as scheduled in Q2/2010.

Did you update Origin Connect as well?

I am pretty sure it will take a little longer than Q2/2010 ...  ;)

Yes, I did update Origin Connect before installing the Origin update. I will give it a try later, I run out of time. Seems to work fine otherwise.

Another thing that should be changed is the synthesizer template that still uses the CV mod for Env to Flt.

OK, I got most of my sounds into my origin again. There seems to be a problem with sounds that are uses a new sequence. I have to play with that a little more. But I got too distracted by tweaking the Origin. It sounds so great.  ;)

If they pulled the file, I'm wondering if they don't want us to use it yet.  I haven't installed mine, since I would like to know if this update is good or not.

Oy, Team Origin, is 1.2.1 ready to use yet??  ???

Maybe they found a bug or two in the last minute and wanted to fix the OS first. However, I assume that this release doesn't offer too much news and is rather developed for the upcoming keyboard version.

However, Arturia US pretty much told us about it in the first place, so it cannot be that bad. Still not sure why the settings are split up in two sections. Maybe we get some more stuff in the future. Also, I noticed that you can start the sequencer with audio in. Never used it before, but I never saw it before either.

OK, since Arturia seems to work still on the OS you might want to take a look at the origin oscillator. When I choose Oscillator 1 and 2 origin, I go on oscillator1 and have oscillator 2 open in edit, I can see the blend out of the PWM section with changing oscillator 1 waveform. Works the other way around too. Nothing major but nevertheless, worth mentioning.

Yes we removed the link and files from the website to do some verifications. More official infos later today.

Cord, your feedback is very interesting:
-Settings have been re-organized in order to make navigation more coherent (no more "hidden page" accessible through the button on the right), and to allow us to add new settings when we will need them.
-Synthesizer template: you're right, the CV-mod is not useful anymore. It was useful in 1.0.7 version, when we were not able to assign an assignable encoder to a connection amount. We will change that.

There seems to be a problem with sounds that are uses a new sequence.
-Can you confirm this and/or give us more details?

-Correction in progress...
