Some ideas for a futur firmware
« on: December 30, 2012, 03:18:37 pm »
Hello,

I use the Minibrute since a week.
That's a very good monophonic synth !! Thank a lot !!

I have some ideas for upgrade...

The curve of amount potentiometers of LFO are linear.
The pitch modification on small values is too large.
Would it be possible to add choice between linear or logarithm ?

Always on the LFO, in free mode.
When I use the max frequency, I can feel the quantification on the last values of rate potentiometer.
I think, that's a limit of the ADC and It's impossible to resolve ?!
It's not very pretty on FX sound.

Would it possible to add some MIDI CC on the numeric controls ?
I think about :
The LFO Rate
The amounts of principal LFO
Glide (CC5)
LFO retrig
Legato Mode
...

Thanks
Cheers !

Hi ear,
nice to read you enjoy your machine  :)

No it's done by the hardware

Indeed it's converter accuracy issue. I tried to smooth it, but you can still notice the steps. It won't be better with the current hardware

It should be possible

The amounts of principal LFO
you can actually do it with the ModWheel CC, if modwheel is set to LFO amt. But I can have a dedicated one

Glide (CC5)
: not possible, glide is full analog

LFO retrig
Legato Mode
We are thinking about assigning CC to every parameters tweakable in the editor. But modification with CC will not be persistent if you shutoff the machine.

Thanks for sharing your idea, it's always very useful to improve a product. I'll add the doable ones on the features request list.

I thought that the arpeggio random (Rndm) function could be active in the sequence mode too.
It would be nice...

Also, it could be really cool to be able to activate upper and lower note repetition in Up/Dwn mode...

I would be very interested in seeing this. That way I could use my iphone to switch between "arp mode" and "sequence mode", and of course access any of the other software features. Fantastic!

I would really like the arp to retrigger the LFO when LFO is set to retrigger mode. only the keyboard seems to retrigger

you're right it's a bug! So it will for sure be corrected.
Thanks for rising it

Hi, I am new on forum and I have Minibrute since december :)
I am using arturia with doepfer dark energy and i am stacking this two synths using MB audio in and MIDI control cable. I have installed the latest patch (posted on forum) and since then control midi message responsible for pitch has changed and Arturia is sending lower notes (1 oct) than before. It is ok for me, to be that way, but it could be nice to have possibility to change (in 4-5 octawe range) sent pitch from arturia because when i want to use it with other mono synth (for example another minibrute ;)) to double number of oscillators and to widen it's sound creation possibilities only way i can change octave distance between arturia and Dark Energy's oscillators is octave switch and on DE and pitch potentiometer (+-5 semitones).

Seeing as the arpeggiator is digital, would be possible to add a digital readout in the software of the current tempo setting? Possibly with control going both ways, so it would read out changes made on the unit on the fly, but also be able to enter a set BPM in the software and transmit this to the Brute.
The tap tempo is nice, but i always seems to be just enough "off" that it's annoying me.

Hello,

I don't know how the arpeggiator and the sequencer work but:
- Is it possible for a future firmware to add arp and seq transposition with the minibrute's keyboard ? For example the tap tempo activate the transposition mode (keeping pushing) and press a key to transpose (like the roland SH-101).
- The possibility to change the arp/seq mode directly on the minibrute.

Thanks

Another bug, I didn't know where else I should report this:

Set the LFO to Free mode
Connect the brute to an external MIDI clock source
The LFO goes freely, as it should, while the arpeggiator syncs to the external clock.

But if you stop the MIDI clock, when the brute latches back to its own internal clock, the LFO switches to Arpeggiator-sync mode.

That's the bug, but a related feature-request: maybe some way to toggle external or internal tempo sync on the device itself.  So that when an external clock is stopped, it doesn't switch back to its own tempo, which is most likely different from the external one.
