Noise from USB
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:57:22 pm »
Yesterday i noticed something rather odd.
I have this USB-powered coolingfan for my laptop, that i sometimes connect to the same powered USB-hub as my MiniBrute.
Now there's no mystery in an electric engine creating noise/interference in the circuit. What surprised me was that it created noise in the MiniBrutes audio output, which in turn went on to the input in my soundcard.
Admittedly i haven't studied the architecture in the MiniBrute, but i thought there were no direct connection between the USB plug and the audio circuitry, so this kind of interference wasn't possible.
It's not a big deal since i only run the fan for gaming, but still i would like to know how/why, and possibly what else i should be conscious about. I don't want any unnecessary electrical interference touching my precious Brute.
