MMV Acoustic Emulation & Misc - Demo MP3's

Since some people wanted to hear any other demos I've created, here are some more.  Every sound on every demo is 100% Arturia Mg Modular V virtual analog synth, with the only outboard gear used being some EQ where needed and Reverb.  These are mostly more acoustic emulation and/or orchestral MMV test demos except the last MP3 which is a random mix of sounds from synth sounds to acoustic type sounds.

Because the demos vary greatly in loudness and how loud they should be listened to, I put general listening levels in some of them to initially be set to before each demo so as to prevent a sudden blast of deafening sound, then the level can be adjusted after playing starts. The time length of the demo is also given.


(For completeness I'm including this here, but this is the same one as already posted previously)  This demo shows strings, woodwinds, French horn, a few trumpet notes, and timpani. Unfortunately after piling on some of the sounds, many of the woodwind parts got covered up and can’t be heard. Loud, 1:01

Strings, piano, flute, clarinet, and pizzicato bass sounds show up in this slow piece. Medium Quiet, 2:00

Harpsichord 4’, 8’, 16,’ and lute stops were synthesized and can be mixed to create all kinds of different harpsichord sounds just like the real thing. Even the thumping sound of the keys being released and the sound of the plectra scraping across the string as it falls back into position were synthesized. The 8’ stop should probably not decay with as much brightness (I’ll fix that later) as it sounds a little synthy. This demo shows many different stop combinations. Some of this brass is somewhat realistic and some is synthetic sounding, but it shows a variety of different brass sounds. The Grieg demo after this demo uses later brass which I synthesized using EWQLSO Silver sample library brass as a guide. Loud, 0:46

Just improvised the bagpipe part then programmed a drum part to go along with it. It depicts a bagpipe and drum corps marching by. Loud, 0:45

This has some acoustic mimicry but also a variety of stuff, from weird effects, to synth sounds, ending in some disjointed (and some parts too slow) excerpts from an original piece to test out some sound combinations. Medium Loud, 3:47

Thanks for posting these examples (I'd have to take about a year off of work to even come close : ).  I basically said 'screw this' after trying to deal with the various MM bugs, and quickly went back to what I already had. Kudos to your skill (and perseverance).

PS - I also liked the non-emulation work

As far as MMV bugs, I put up an extensive list in the MMV tech section.  There is scarcely a patch or family of sounds that I haven't come across bugs that cause me all kinds of problems, which end up at times in limiting the realism I can attain, or limit the real-time expression I can get, or cause me to have to come up with awkward and unacceptable work-arounds.  I'll probably eventually move some of my stuff to Reaktor to bump up the realism in some of the sounds.  It takes a lot longer to program sounds using Reaktor though.

This is really amazing stuff. I only use my own original patches in my work, but I'd love it if you would consider sharing some these patches. I'm sure we would all learn something!
