USB cable length

Hi! Is it possible to use a longer USB cable than the one that is provided for the MKII? I just moved my computer to the other side of my desk and I need a much longer cable to reach the MKII. Is there any special USB cable I would need to get?

The USB standard has max cable length at 5m, but if you use active repeater cables you can get very long USB cables, several tens of meters if you need.

Thank you, Dr. Justice! So I could take my usb cable that came with the MKII and attach it to something like this and that's not going to damage the keyboard?

Just get a longer USB cable. By the sounds of it a 3m should do you OK...

I got a 5M and it is all good.
Just make sure it has the little booster coils at either end. They look like little black cylinders.
A powered booster I would think you would only need if your USB went beyond 5M.

I bought 2 usb extension cables at Walmart ....10 feet each ...no problems with any device at all and decent quality ..I don’t remember the brand but they seemed pretty generic....to be honest i couldn’t believe they are awesome....I have options to move gear around ...I want more of them as my desk size sucks
