Rotary and slider encoder question +mod wheel/problem
« on: March 05, 2022, 10:26:48 pm »
New here, bla bla, Hi!
1st day and already problems :D
Nice!

Installed everything.

Opened Keylab IV or V and whichever instrument I use the 1st encoders (slider and rotary from the left) do not control/work the parameters they should be assigned to. The rest of them work fine.
Also the mod wheel is not working. When you do it with a mouse in KL yes but physically from the keyboard no.

When I use Logic's midi learn function ....it works but it's visually kinda glitchy. Butin KL mode I am not supposed to use Logixc X midi learn.

Earlier today, when I just installed it -  I was browsing thru KL:IV-V and it was working.

Also when I switch to daw mode the mixer control works fine.

What gives? What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?

Thank you
Best
Adam

Hi,

Do you have issues, when you run Analog Lab as a standalone application?

Why don't you just try it to help yourself? Don't you think a helper like me have a reason to ask?
It's to test your controller - and to troubleshoot.
I can also just say, that your issue has to do with your setup and usage in Logic. Nothing to do with Analog Lab or your controller as such. But how to be sure without troubleshooting?

This is how I got it setup in the control surfaces section of Logic. After reseting the setup I now have no control over pan pots in DAW mode.

Then your controller send out the messages.

I gave you clues in my previous post.

Have you also setup your controller to work as a Keyboard controller, if that's needed in Logic/ MAC?
I'm not a Mac Logic user, so i can't help you directly with this.

I did a web search and found this: https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=154398
It sound like your issue, and perhaps the solution works for you too.

I got in contatc with arturia
the basically proposed what I already did. Just out of curiosity I tried resetting the control surfaces and now the faders do not work in Analog Lab mode and the pots dont work in DAW mode. So the more you trouble shoot the more problems you end up with. How is this possible??

Did you try the solution in the link i posted?

This is the second post from there:
"Ok - problem solved -
I had to delete the Control Surface Preferences here:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs

everything is working fine now."

Is that what you call reseting the control surface?
Resetting does'nt have to repair a corrupt file.

If this does'nt help, then i still think it's something in your setup, your setup process or your usage of Logic that's causing the issues.

The troubleshooting simply tell you there is something wrong somewhere - or something you don't understand is going on.

It's not the controller it self as your standalone troubleshooting told you, that the controller work.
You also say the modwheel and control work inside Logic, when you use the mouse.
So your issue look like it's about the connection between your controller and the software that's somehow disconnected inside Logic.

If you have done what you can do with your keyboard and Analog Lab, and you are sure you have'nt double installs of software that can create conflicts, and Arturia can't find issues with the AU plugin, then you should look at things that's a part of Logic in one way or another.
Have you tried to get Logic help?

So I got the answer from Arturia
Here's what they propose

"On the other hand, regarding your controller:

I- The following steps will explain how to delete the Logic Pro X user preferences, in order to potentially fix the issue your are actually facing:

1- Quit Logic Pro X if it is running.

2- In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder" from the Go menu.

3- Type ~/Library/Preferences in the field and click Go.

4- Remove the following files from the Preferences folder:

com.apple.logic.pro.cs
com.apple.logic10.LSSharedFileList
com.apple.logic10.plist

- Note that if you've programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You might want to export your custom key commands before performing this step. Learn how to Browse, import, and save key commands.

5- If you upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, also remove the "com.apple.logic.pro" file.

6- Then restart the computer."

Hope it helps

Have you created new keyboard and control surfaces after you have deleted the files?
Be sure you are not doing something so Logic overtake the connection between your Keylab and Analog Lab.

Hate to be a broken record on these forums, but are you sure it's not a faulty physical encoder and/or slide potentiometer? For some unknown reason, people have issues with the first controls more than the others. Unbeknownst to me, I had a physical issue from practically day one that wasn't resolved until I replaced the slide pot.
