Record Pitch Bend Data into Sequences
« on: April 30, 2020, 07:20:55 pm »
Surprised pitch bend data cant be recorded into sequences, would be a really nice touch I think! Same with the mod strip as well.

+1 especially for mod wheel, but I guess it will be stepped as this is a step sequencer...

Well, Keystep Pro has already taken steps away from being "just" a step sequencer: The unquantized recording. So even if we are dealing with a relatively (in modern context) low resolution (is the internal resolution 24PPQ? Anybody knows?), we would just need a tiny bit of slew on pitchbend and modwheel to make it sound good.
So the question is probably, if the processing power is sufficient to deal with the added amount of data. A compromise could be, to only be able to enable pitchbend and modwheel data on one of the sequencers. Man, that would really be cool. (BTW: Hermod records pitchbend and modulation. :-D )

Just got a Keystep Pro, too and was instantly missing that feature...

Add me to the list- is this something within the realm of possibility, Arturia? To me it's potentially a missed opportunity not having this feature enabled.

Also- the captcha letters here are RIDICULOUS!! (I'm new here so forgive me, but seriously can anyone read these things??)

I just upgraded (finally!) to the newest firmware and I too was surprised this wasn't added. Lack of pitchbend and modwheel recording limits the use of this thing a bit as a performance tool IMO. Perhaps it is a hardware limitation as others have wondered.

Ah yes, the Novation SL49...the £540 'centrepiece' that can be used to 'control your whole studio', as long as you don't want aftertouch.
Naturally that depends on how much aftertouch matters to you as a player, but for £540 and no aftertouch on a keyboard that promises to be my studio 'centrepiece'?
That's a dealbreaker.

You should read more carefully the specs… The SL mk3 is just a bit more expensive than the KSP (around 642 usd vs 549 usd) but it is a 8 tracks sequencer (with 8 arpeggiator and 8 split/layer zones) with a full size keyboard with aftertouch. Furthermore the aftertouch is assignable to anything. It also supports full template for any of the synth (hardware or software) you might want to control. And it integrates perfectly with Ableton Live.
The only drawback of the novation SL mk3 is the need of a power supply and the rather limited pattern chaining. So it might not be perfect but it surely has a better bang for the buck ratio than the KSP.

Thanks yes just seen it, the 'Tech Specs' tab doesn't specify aftertouch, but I see it now in the Details tab.
Did seem rather odd that it doesn't have it at that price.

You are welcome. Yes you are right they don’t put that info in the specs. They put that in the fracture overview which is unfortunate.

I still think KSP is a good keyboard but why they put such limitation on the control track and automation recording :(

Just chiming here to join others in wishing for this feature. I really expected to be able to do this.

Kind of makes the sequencer just a pitch and gate sequencer, with a lot of redundant controls.

Silly me for assuming  ::)
