Both V3 and V4 on the same computer?
« on: March 19, 2021, 12:07:47 am »
I just upgraded from V Collection 7 to 8. Although I love the Jup-8 V4, I miss some presets of the Jup-8 V3. Is it possible to install both Jup-8 V3 and V4 on the same computer (M1 Mac Mini)? If so, would Analog Lab V see Jup-8 presets?

Hi,

Is it possible to install both Jup-8 V3 and V4 on the same computer (M1 Mac Mini)?
Yes. They are different applications and can installed alongside eachother. I have not uninstalled my V3 to install V4. V3 is not being uninstalled automaticly, so you must have it installed, unless you have uninstalled it yourself.

would Analog Lab V see Jup-8 presets?
Yes it will also see the V3 presets if you check "Include Legacy Sounds" in ALVs menu in the top left of the application.
But the V3 presets will use the V3 engine. They can't be used in JUP-8 V4 engine. Perhaps Arturia will create a preset converter, but as V4 is changed much, then the presets can't be excactly the same.

Thanks! It's great to be able to have both versions. I recently got an M1 Mac Mini as my music computer and haven't installed the V7 yet. So, no V7 instrument is on the Mac yet. I upgraded to V8 early today and have installed only Jun-6 V and Jup-8 V so far. Both are so much FUN!

Your welcome.

No doubt JUP-8 V4 sounds great.

FYI: You can also have Analog Lab V4 installed alongside ALV.

Good luck, with your new system. I would be very interested in hearing about the M1 performance compared to the Intel CPUs, even though i'm on Windows.

Cheers.
