HOLD not turning off
« on: June 25, 2020, 04:56:24 am »
When using the HOLD button for arps a note will stick and won't un-hold. This is after the firmware update.

Not using midi, this is just cv going to gate out. Holds my envelope on sustain. It use to happen once in a while before the firmware update but now it's horrible. Clear note does not work. Seems like I have to figure out exactly which note is being held and hit that key. If I'm able to find it (no leds are lit) then it unsticks.

<Update>: I should have read your comment completely before posting. What I'm describing happens with MIDI, not CV Gate...

I already had planned to post about this, too. Apparently, in Hold mode the KSP sends a Note On every time the same key is pressed repeatedly. When the Hold button is switched off, only one Note Off is sent for that key. Some synths (like the Yamaha Montage) stack the Note On commands and expect the same number of Note Off commands to be sent. Some synths switch off a note already on the first Note Off for that note.

I believe the correct behavior in Hold mode would be to send Note On only the first time a key is pressed and send nothing when that key is pressed again.

The hanging notes are quite a nuisance. My current workaround is to push the KSP stop butten three times for an All Notes Off.

Best!

I had this same issue about one note of a chord staying hold after cancelling hold button (in midi), and I had to change project to make it off.

As a bonus annoyance, "hold" does not honour the monophonic setting either.  It is always polyphonic and keeps stacking notes regardless of the track's polyphony setting.

Hi
The mono /poly is only for the sequencer so hold is for the keyboard setting ,So mono has no effect on the keyboard notes only the seq.

I would argue that makes no sense in the context of a device intended at least partially to control monophonic synthesizers via control voltage.    In my case I am currently using MIDI but the same principle applies.  Also hold is per track which also lends weight to having it honour the mono / poly setting.
