Play 2 notes at the same time using only one key
« on: May 20, 2020, 10:35:44 pm »
Hi all,

Sorry if my question is a little naive...

I am not musician but I am trying to play some covers in this quarentine days.

I am using minilab and analog lab 4, all is ok but I would like know if its possible play diferents notes using only one key, my keyboard  only have 25 key  and I only have 2 hands so, I would like know if I could set to use 2 notes at the same time and just one key.

I did try with midi settings but I could not configure the key.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Rodrigo

EDIT:

My purpose its play 2 note at the same time with a single key

Hi,

You can have sounds that can play full chords. when you play a single note. That's about programming the sound to do so.

And in an application like Analog Lab you can create a MULTI preset. Each of the 2 sounds in such a preset can even be transposed, and in that sense play 2 notes.

A keyboard that have have layers that can send out notes on multiple midi channels and that can transpose each layer can also play multiple notes playing one key. Minilab can't do this.

And multiple instances can be played with the same key on the same midi channel, and each instance will respond to the way it's transposed.

A host may be able to transpose a incomming midi note to send out another or even a chord.

(Keep in mind, that a preset can be set to different play modes. The number of notes it can play is'nt the same no matter which application or preset you use. I tell this because of the other thread you have posted.)

Regards.

Thanks LBH,

Yes I posted an similar post but My idea in past post was with 2 instruments and not using the same key.

I was thinking if its possible, with a minilab and analog lab:

1) set like a multi instrument the same preset and the same instrument.
2) In the configuration transpone one instrument in the same midi channel
3) and with this way  get differents notes whit the same key.

Sorry if my english is not so good.

Regards
