midi control of sequencer mutes

Hi,
I bet there is a sysex string that will let me mute and unmute seq1,seq2 and drum remotely. It would be amazing to automate between the playing of the assigned pattern, or the midi notes passing through. Record play and stop can be automated, so surely the mute state can be to?

Hi mick
you can automate patterns with program changes.
so if you program change to a blank pattern it can be your "mute"
for instance; 
pattern 1 plays a beat on channel 10
pattern 2 is blank on channel 10
initate a program change 2 on that channel to mute it.
this could be done as either an automation lane for that channel or assigned to a button on your midi controller

Hi!!

I can't find a way to send Midi info from my Yamaha DTX-Multi 12 drum pad to my BSP mute SEQ 1.  The work around that obryan mentioned is not applicable for my usage. I start has a clean slate pattern.

I can't set the midi info of the mutes in the Midi control center so I guess it's not doable... Is there a default midi message for this that is not implemented in the Midi Control Center?
