Having to rotate knobs 20 times...
« on: September 18, 2019, 05:06:30 am »
Should the knobs (oscillator settings for example) need to be turned like 20 full rotations to go from 0 to 128 on the display? Maybe a setting so the knobs just need to be turned a single full rotation to go from 0-128. Just watch some youtube videos of people playing with the synth, it's strange watching people spin the knob and reset their hands a few dozen times just to turn the Timbre all the way up for example.

The knobs have parameter scaling: twist fast and the increase in parameter value is much bigger than if you twist slowly.

Hmm.. doesn't seem to act that way. Twisting fast, trying my hardest to get from the lowest to the highest value still requires that I give the thing a bunch of turns. Watch Marc Doty's comprehensive review on the microfreak and you'll see him spin like crazy.

Dude spins the knob 27 times to turn the Modulation amount from 0 to 50%.

A single fast twist takes me from 0% to a bit past 50% for the mod amounts. Same goes for the oscillator parameters - two fast twist from 0% to 100%, maybe 3 or 4 if I'm turning them in a 'less' determined' fashion. The guy in the video is turning the mod amount slowly.

Are you running the latest firmware?

Hello.

These are encoders.

To make it simple; increase the sensitivity of an encoder leads to less resolution.
So it is not really possible to increase the sensitivity, otherwise you end with a very steppy behavior.

That's why we use acceleration.
However, if you don't accelerate the movement (maintain a regular low speed) the output will remain very slow.

How about this feature request:

Shift+Knob for bigger steps of value changes for all relevant knobs (especially: Matrix, Preset, all 4 DCO Knobs, etc.)

An idea of a main germany hardware reviewer (Mr. "Stimming" on Youtube)
