GUI Preset issue, and question re preset 12
« on: June 06, 2016, 10:05:25 am »
The preset buttons in V2, lit up when selected.

In the V3 they go slightly darker, and there is little visual feedback - hard to see if it's selected.
The original CS80 actually lit up when the preset was selected.

Q: What is the function of Preset 12 - v2 hint says 'Panel' and I assume it returns you back to the panel state before selecting the presets. However, when first selected in V3 it sets all values/sliders completely zero. I'm not sure how to use it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

cheers Jeff

As I understand it, the presets 12 should return to the state of the sliders before selecting another preset.

On the hardware, there are 3 such presets per oscillator row, two corresponding to tiny sliders under the lid, and the right most corresponding to the sliders on the panel. Obviously, in the hardware these sliders don't move if selecting another preset.

However, something is wrong about the presets in the V3 plugin. For the second oscillator, preset 12 seems to disable the whole filter section (see separate post).

This is maybe a better picture of the real preset buttons.

It would be very useful to have the actual names of the presets visible either on the buttons or on the top and bottom of the buttons respectively. These things are great for building sounds, that was I'm sure the original purpose. From what I understand some famous soundtrack music was produced just using the preset buttons and the expressive controls. It would be nice if Arturia went a little more in depth but the Yamaha CS 80 owners manual explains it all pretty well. This is such a great synth. The manual should be read by anyone interested in it. Thank goodness for the magic of the internet. Check it out:

The new version still hasn't fixed the dodgy preset 12 functionality - which should be to return the sliders/settings to what had been last used before a preset button had been selected.

in 3.2.0.1183

This is still broken - preset button 12 zeroes all the panel controls, instead of returning to the last panel set of control setings.

the malfunctioning preset key 12 still has not been fixed
It is meant to restore the sliders to the position they started at before selecting other presets.

It currently just zeroes all the sliders.
