Title: Keystep firmware upgrade: CAN NOT install... What is the trick!?
Post by: damnedcat777 on August 27, 2019, 01:30:59 am
OK, I've spent 3 days and countless hours.  I can NOT get the new firmware upgrade to install.  All I get is "device not recognized" - I have tried 2 different MacBook Pro's, every possible mini switch combination...  this just is NOT possible.  Has ANYONE been able to download and install this firmware upgrade?  So many reasons to want this via the video Arturia posted.  But this is upgrade is just NOT possible.  It's not.  Has ANYONE with a MacBook pro been able to get the Midi control center to even acknowledge the KeyStep?  I'll need to see videos to believe it.  WTF is going on?????

Someone, plz: help.  Plz.

Your best bet is to contact Arturia support.  They should be able to resolve your issue.  They're rather good at it.

YES! I did try that.  Many many many times, on 2 different MacBook Pro's, over and over and over.  It does NOT upgrade.  It just doesn't.

Hi damnedcat777,

Did you try to force firware update this way:
- Boot your Keystep while holding REC STOP and PLAY
- Then using the MidiControlCenter force a firmware update by clicking on the button next to Firmware Revision

You should not use any usb HUB or any usb adaptor.

Hope this helps !

I just had the same issue as damnedcat777.

This procedure helped:
• Disconnect Keystep.

• Download latest firmware first.
• Open both Midi Control center and Audio MIDI setup.
• Delete "Arturia Keystep" entry in Audio MIDI setup / MIDI studio, as well as any generic "USB MIDI Device" entry and/or "KeyStep Updater" entry
(Note, that a connected item cannot be deleted).

• Connect Keystep while holding REC/STOP/PLAY down. You'll see the Hold, Shift and Oct+/- buttons illuminate a rotating circle. This says BOOTMODE.

• Now follow the steps given by the Midi Control Center. Use locally downloaded firmware copy.

Worked here like a charm. Note: We coudl have spared all those messages, if Arturia's FAQ entry would be a LITTLE more detailed.
