Title: Arp / Sequencer not sending midi
Post by: curtismayfield on June 21, 2019, 07:08:21 am
I am fairly familiar with MIDI setups, but this is puzzling me.

I recently received this keystep and I am not able to trigger another synth using the sequences or arps.
I can trigger a clock on a slave machine by pressing play, and I can play the second machine using the keystep keyboard.

I've read the manual.

The arp and sequences appear to be sending no midi (at least non is being received by slave synth).
I have tried on different slave synths.
Current firmware for keystep.
In MIDI center, I can see the sequences.
I see there is another post describing the same problem but no solution.

I know this may be a silly question, but I am going to ask as you have not mentioned it; have you set both the KeyStep and your slave device to the same MIDI channel?

I'll admit that some of the Keystep features are a tad obscure, but this one was easy.

To troubleshoot, I would advise:
1. Connect a MIDI cable directly from the Keystep <MIDI Out> to the synth/module/etc <MIDI In>
2. Set the Keystep to Channel 1 (<shift-key> + lowest note on keyboard)
3. Set the synth/module to Channel 1
4. ...for simplicity, use the Arp...set the switch, hit play and hold down some keys
