Hello,
Just got my beatstep. Use it (intend to !) with a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.12 (sierra). I just get the message " Failed to open device", and it also cannot read the firmware revision.
The MCC tells the beatstep is connected . MCC detects if I disconnect it, and it reappears on the connected device list when I plug it in, but it obviously does not communicate.
The midi audio setup sees it, and in test mode, when i hit a pad, the triangle on MAS turns on.
no other software running, except mcc, all usb devices disconnected.
I tried with all usb ports on my mac, tried with 3 cables, rebooted the mac of course a few times, tried on another macbook, with absolutely no success. MCC won't talk to the beatstep.
Help please!!
Thanks

I seem to have a similar problem under win7. After having decided on a physical USB setup, I uninstalled and reinstalled. MCC communicated with my BeatStep without problems, I then closed it and opened my DAW and everything was fine. After that, I wanted to tweak something, so I closed down my DAW, then opened MCC again, and I was back to being unable to sync.
Am I going to have to uninstall and re-install my BeatStep every time I want to use MCC?
EDIT: Figured it out. Turns out Windows MIDI gets confused when I turn off the Windows Audio service in order to run software ASIO. With the service on, everything works fine.
