Title: HELP! can you record notes into the sequencer from an external kb via midi in ?

I want to use a different keyboard to enter notes into the step seq (not the onboard keystep mini keyboard) 

seems like it should just work but I haven't been able to do it..  (simply taking midi out into the midi in of keystep, sync is via gate in)

is this possible???
