Title: There is a way to pick a pad to be used in a sequence, right?
Post by: van heinous on September 20, 2014, 11:01:37 pm
I bought the Beatstep to mainly be used as a drum machine controller in Ableton. Everything works great, no problems hooking it up, sending midi etc etc... but after pouring over the manual and some videos... I don't see any way to pick a pad and place it in a sequence (just like you would with a Spark controller). You know, like a regular drum machine step sequencer. Certainly, there is a way to do that, right? Especially since you can assign pads to certain notes?

You don't put a pad in a sequence exactly. You can turn on/off any of the 16 steps (or shorter) in the sequence and on each of those steps, you can set the pitch by adjusting the knob.

A step sequencer without drum machine functionality? Siiiigh. You gotta be kidding me.

I guess I'll put it in the request area for the next version.

I can see where the confusion comes from but it's a monophonic step sequencer (like those found on modular gear). You can use it as a drum machine but you can only trigger a single sound at a time.

Thanks syrupcore. It's a bummer, but I've found other interesting uses for it in Ableton.

Syver - most people have been asking for new features in the Firmware Update forum. Hopefully that's where those actually belong and I'm not going into the sin bin for pointing you that way.
