Title: Oberheim copy protection
Post by: warbread on December 13, 2011, 12:24:31 am
From the Oberheim's site:

"PROTECTION

Internet connection required to authorize the product."

No mention of being tied to a dongle.  Can we get a clarification on the DRM used here?

Hi the protection is based on eLicenser but you don't need a dongle because this is a soft-eLicenser protection.
For more information concerning soft-eLicenser, please follow this link (https://www.steinberg.net/en/support/knowledgebase_new/free_articles/kb_show/soft-elicenser-sel-faq.html).

...and the eLicenser page on our website as well: http://www.arturia.com/elicenser  :)

Thanks for the swift clarification, guys.  Unfortunately, as far as my use goes, a soft dongle is a dongle all the same (that's what she said!!) and makes my life more difficult.

The synth sure does sound good, though.  Applause to the devs.
