Title: Gate in/out TRS - where is the ring connection for?
Post by: Remon on February 16, 2014, 08:12:46 pm
The Gate in and outputs on the backside of the Arturia Microbrute are TRS (stereo), exactly the same as the headphone output: TRS (tip/ring/sleeve).

My question is: is the ring used for something?

I want to connect one of my Korg Volca units to the Microbrute, and the Volca's are also using TRS outputs for everything (headphone, sync in/out). With the Volca's I measured a pulse on the tip and about 400 mV on the ring. (can be some current leakage?)

Do i need a cable with TRS connectors to sync both Volca's and Microbrute? Do i have to disconnect the ring inside one or both TRS jacks? I'm afraid of shortcutting something.

I wish i had schematic diagrams of the Microbrute. (aswell for the Volca's)
