Title: MicroFreak/OS Firmware issue
Post by: The Green Acme on July 27, 2022, 08:46:12 am
Hello:

I just purchased my 2nd MicroFreak - cuz I love them that much! - The firmware link on the Arturia website keeps sending me to
Apple's App Store, which is of no help, any suggestions on workaround ?

I am currently on an Xeon chip loaded Mac. Hard to believe that would be an issue (considering insanely hard push to M1 tech), but worth suggesting.

Thanks,
TGA

This is the URL.. Copy and paste it into your browser. I just downloaded it on my phone. I'm not a Mac guy, but maybe look and see if you somehow have a default program for opening an ".mff" file.  Or, just download the file on your phone and email it to yourself.

It's been a while since I've updated firmware, but I thought that if you needed one, MIDI Control Center would notify you and you can download and install it straight from there. Not sure though since it's been a while.

Which version of macOS? Check your Settings/System Preferences to be sure you've allowed installation of apps that aren't from the App Store: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491

Also, the way to update the firmware is to use the Arturia MIDI Control Center app. You usually don't have to download the firmware file directly, because the MCC app will do that itself.

It does say to download the firmware file in those instructions, but I don't believe I've ever had to do that.

These instructions match my experience: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/how-to-update-the-firmware-on-an-arturia-microfreak/
