Title: Can MiniLab mkII send MIDI Tempo from rotary encoders
Post by: slippedout on August 27, 2021, 06:14:02 am
I’m controlling external synths with the MiniLab mkII, and want to be able to adjust the tempo for the arpeggiators. The synth arpeggiator responds to MIDI Tempo messages. Can the MiniLab mkII send MIDI Tempo messages? If so, how can this be assigned to an encoder knob?

There are no such thing as  MIDI tempo messages.

In MIDI, the tempo is derived from Clock messages sent at fixed intervals.
Since the MiniLab doesn’t have any MIDI Clock generator, there is no way it can send such messages.

On the other hand, any DAW should be able to send these messages to your Synth and some might allow automating this parameter from any Control Change message issued by the MiniLab.
There’s even a software dedicated to that : http://midiclock.com
