Slot for inserting VSTs in FX rack.

No doubt this would be great in all Arturias applications. At least being able to use Arturias own plugins. Or just to have a studio plugin where this is possible, would be very useful. It could even be developed to a modular studio.
-
-1 please do not do this.
VST effects should be placed in the insert effects of your track, in your DAW.
There is no point having to open the Plugin to add or alter an effect, or disable it.
It's of negative utility to have this feature, and would potentially DESTABILIZE pigments.

I know what a VST is dude! Don't be scared it will be great. Better reverbs, better distortions etc all upstream of the main outputs. It would allow for some advanced modular programming. There is no reason this would DESTABILISE Pigments unless you crapped your CPU out. Also VSTs can be used other than in 'their insert effects of your track' buss tracks and auxiliaries work just fine too. You will see more and more of this type of interplay within products in the future.
Imagine your favourite VST in slot 1 followed by all the other modulation possibilities in the other slots.

I think this is a bad idea.
1. Adding a third party VST within Pigments has the potential to cause errors and crashes. Arturia could and should not be responsible for this as it would increase support calls.
2. If you shared a patch, the recipient would need the same VST(s).
3. It would likely impact performance - especially CPU and hence voice count.
4. Third party effects should be placed on the track in your DAW.

Mostly conjecture. "potential to", "likely impact" etc. Adding any plugin impacts performance anyway. There is no reason it would cause crashes unless the coding was dodgy.
Pigments is a great synth already but for me the architecture could be more modular in regards the signal flow between its parts.
Maybe a more experimental platform for doing this would be good to get people used to the idea.
People used to think that you would suffocate if you went faster than 20 MPH in a car.
