Title: Did I just fry my Keystep? :(
Post by: Groovadile on February 08, 2019, 10:09:06 pm
Please go easy on me, I usually know what I am doing. This time just wasn't thinking. Before noticing that Keystep takes center-positive psu's, I plugged a center-negative one to it. DId I just destroy the poor thing? Is there any hope?

Thank you very much in advance,

MIke

I dunno if there is any reverse polarity protection on the Keystep.  Does it work when you use the correct polarity psu plug or power it via USB?

No, sadly it doesn't. I will try to return it (being honest with what I did), if it has any protection, then they should accept it. I was just thinking that I might be doing something wrong by not flipping a switch to turn it on, or something, but I guess it's just broken.

Thanks!

I think because centre-positive is by far the most common and 'default' they didn't bother including reverse polarity protection, sadly.
