Title: Sending Guitar Signal Through The Brute
Post by: CricketMonster on October 12, 2018, 08:03:44 am
Hi there - is it possible for me to play my guitar (or anyother instrument) through the Brute.

I don't mean controlling the Brute using the gate. I just wondered if I could use the circuitry of the Brute to colour the guitar signal and use the effects unit of the brute?

Many thanks
J.

Hey !

Sure, the easiest way to do it is :

-Initialize patch (Panel + PRESET)
-Turn down VCO 1 in the mixer
-Turn up External in the Mixer
-Route External to filter 1/2 (your call)
-Press the "Key Hold" button next to the wheels
-Press any key

Then you can go crazy with the effects and modulations

Hi Vic-tor

Thank you, that's worked!  :)

The effects don't seem to be doing that much, the reverb for example doesn't appear to be doing anything...  probably just something I'm not doing.

I'll figure it out, thanks so much.

J.

Old thread I know but...

Does the MxB take a high impedance input like from an electric guitar? If not you will get better results if you turn the signal into a line level first.

Hi Chrom,

I have used my guitar through the brute quite a bit and the input level adjustment knob allows you to fine tune the amplitude based on the output of the instrument very well.  I've also done this with line level sources such as my minibrute and drum machines.  As a side note the envelope follower tracks very well and allows you to modulate destinations with great sensitivity.

Cheers.

There is a  high impedance setting on the back:

"5. Input Type (Inst/Line) - For external instrument, use Instrument level for Hi-Z sources like
an electric guitar or bass; use Line level for sources such as another electronic instrument,
mixer output. This is an unbalanced input. Line = 68kΩ. Instrument = 1.1MegΩ"
