Title: Beatstep Pro is live recording aftertouch messages as notes
Post by: machinesworking on July 09, 2018, 02:09:21 am
As the title says, hitting record to record a live drum part on the Beatstep Pro and playing in a pattern, if you don't extremely quickly strike the pad Beatstep records the aftertouch into the drum sequence as MIDI notes, tied..  Consistent across DAWs, Reaper, Live etc.

Is there a way to prevent this??

Hi machinesworking,
I do not believe it is aftertouch. It is just the length of the notes you triggered with the pads, I guess.
You may eventually try using a different Time Division.

I have the SparkLE sitting right here. Doing the same thing on the SparkLE recording notes into the 16 step sequencer at 120 BPM it does not tie notes together to make a long drum note?? (is that useful at all outside of tympani? who records tympani into a drum machine??) I find it strange that Arturia would decide to have Beatstep Pro do this but not Spark? I also doubt DrumBrute does this? Timing is 1/16, are you sure this isn't a bug?

I am sure and 100% certain it is not a bug as it is a new feature (since firmware 2.0) asked by many people.
DrumBrute and Spark do not have this feature.

Hmm? it must be because they aren’t using the drum sequencer with drums, that’s the only thing that makes sense. If you’re using a modular for a snare sound you might want a longer “note” for the snare. It would be great if it was a feature you could turn on and off IMO.

Some device needs longuer analog drum gates to be triggered, if I remember well (Nord Keyboards?).
