Title: Speakers aren't playing anything but signal is getting in red and hot

I know my headline isn't very helpful.
But I'm having a serious issue!
I plugged it in, turned on my speakers, opened protools and my speakers popped pretty freakin loud.

Now that I brought them down substantially, I feel safer trying them out.
so I tried setting up the speakers on the midi setup guide but when I play anything, the meter on the fuse goes all the way up. Like distorting high. But nothing comes out my speakers.
Then I run protools same thing happens. Goes all the way in the red. (when I know for a fact what I am playing back is at 0db) and no sound comes out.

I must add the first time I opened protools the sound was coming out low and distorted.
Also, when I Plug in my Duet, my speakers are fine.
Help!!!



I am running Mac  Sierra 10.12.5
