Title: [SOLVED] How to make longer notes?
Post by: siseturist on July 26, 2017, 02:03:40 am
In older firmware it was possible to make longer notes - note ties consisting of several notes. How can it be done now (except from making them manually using encoders afterward).

Hope it gets fixed, otherwise there's not much use of bsp-s for my live performance needs  :(

Hi siseturist,

have you tried last firmware 2.0.0.2 ? I don't understand why you are talking about fixing something... You can still enter longer notes.

record : press a pad and hold it
using step : press the first step (ie step 5) then a second step (ie step 8) and hold it 700ms (delay is to avoid writing tied note when you just want to write 4 hihat steps at a time)
encoders : set encoders to gate and change gate value with the knob

hope it answer to your question

regards

That is a nice solution to accidental ties!

Though I was unaware of the delay and thought it was not working.
Perhaps 3-400ms is still safe? : )

Ok, will try again!
But it would be nice to have a manual for new firmware. How should I have known that one must wait and hold the buttons to get that function. It should be faster! 700ms is almost one second and a lot happens in music in one second. Or this waiting time should be possible to change in MCC

Yes we're working on a manual for update 2.0, it should be out early September.

Ok I will put a request. We have tried this timing and it was something we do like but maybe a little faster could be fine too.. For you information, timing starts on the first step pressed (no need to wait with both step pressed).
ie :
I press first step 2 -> a timer start
I wait 400ms
I then press step 5 (still holding step 2)
if I wait 300ms it will make a tied note between step 2 and 5

=> no need to wait each time 700ms with both step pressed except if you press both step at the same time

Thanks. It works!
But as it doesn't work as it used to before, then I thought the feature was taken away.

Well... in live situation that waiting time is just ridiculous. Must be way shorter delay for making ties!

What is "way shorter" for you? Half the time?
