Title: Suggestions on writing grooves in 6/8, 9/8, 12/8?
Post by: Digital Larry on March 19, 2016, 03:33:10 pm
I thought I used the "Last Step" button to set one sequence to end at 12.  I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I duplicated this sequence (SHIFT + >>) and when playing back there was a little section (maybe a bar) that repeated itself.  Sorry I did not spend time to try to figure out what was really going on.

If I make 1-16 section end at 12, then what happens if I duplicate this to 17-32 or beyond?

Or If that's what I want to do (have the longest sequence possible at 12 steps per "bar") then should I just end it at 48 instead of 64?

Also, I was trying to figure out whether "triplet" could be used to get these triplet time signatures but that just seems to speed up the internal clock relative to MIDI clock output.

There is no mention of time signature in the entire BeatStep Pro manual, and hey I realize that 4/4 is the funkiest dancinest groove ever, but I like to goof around with other time signatures.

Run at 1/32 maybe to get that pace associated with time sigs of [X]/8?
