Title: New Firmware for thew BSP 1.3.0.23
Post by: Terrym on November 18, 2015, 08:38:28 pm
Hi all, The Latest Fw 1.3.0.23 is out please down load the new mcc from the Arturia site and install this first then update the firmware.
Loads of new features.
Beatstep Pro FW release notes
V 1.3.0.23
Features
* Wait to load pattern (activated in the MIDI Control Center): when Wait to load pattern is On, it waits until the end of the pattern to switch
* Chaining pattern: Up to 16 patterns can be chained for each sequencer to create longer sequences. Use SHIFT + SEQ1, SEQ2 and/or DRUM and press the step buttons in the order of your chain.
* SHIFT + KNOB : Changes are applied to all the steps of the pattern using one knob. KNOB 1 is used for RELATIVE changes and KNOB 2 for ABSOLUTE changes. Velocity, Gate and Shift can be modified this way.
* Input MIDI channels can be set using SHIFT + CHAN combination.
* BeatStep Pro stays in sync when changing the time resolution or playback direction, by calculating the new playing position.
* SHIFT + PLAY restarts the 3 sequencers, quantized to the next Drum step.
* Hold notes triggered by pads in CONTROL mode when switching to another mode.
* Gate lengths have now a minimum value regardless of the tempo. The Minimum duration of a Gate is 3 ms.
* Copy patterns between SEQ1 and SEQ2: to copy a pattern from SEQ1 to SEQ2 : set the BeatStep Pro in SEQ1 Mode, then hold SAVE + SEQ2 + STEP in this order to save
* Saving patterns feedback: A dot is displayed at the bottom of the pattern number on the sequencer's display if the pattern is modified
* BeatStep Pro shows the used patterns when saving: when pressing Save to save a pattern (SEQUENCER 1, 2 or DRUM) patterns which are not empty light up in white
* 7-segment displays blinking modification on pattern save
* The last used project will be loaded when the unit starts
Fixed Bugs
* Real-time recording improvements
* No lose synchronization when USB clock is used.
* MIDI output channels and Metronome state are now properly recalled
* no more knobs jump to 0 when turned fast
* Pads no longer lit when MIDI notes are triggered if SHIFT or DRUM or SEQ1/2 buttons are pressed
* Knob acceleration enhancement
* Looper reverse mode enhancement
* Mute mode enhancement
* Changing projects enhancements
* The Roller continues to play when touch strip is pressed before the pad

Hey thanks for the new Firmware !

seems SHIFT + Knob 1/2 don't change the pitch of the Notes ... can somebody confirm the problem ?
also seems i can't adjust the DRUMS settings with the Knobs anymore - shift/velo/gate

This feature is only for vel and gate and not note data.
What do you mean adjust the drums?

Seems like a nice update. I did not see mentioned a fix regarding cv clocks issue reverting to how it worked before last update...Is this been dropped ? ( major concern for modular users...)

ohh ok !
seems SHIFT doesn't work on my drums - by SHIFT+KNOB 1/2 or even if i try to SHIFT single steps

Only for Vel and gate and not shift or pitch

Im not up on what your problem is but no this has not been changed , i think i read somewhere you have to change the connector from a ts to a trs or something like that.

As said in this thread, TRS is not a solution...It was working before...And I really thought we could trust Valentin' voice...

Woohoo!  Now I might sound a little needy, but can we have an updated manual?

The wait-to-change-pattern feature is nice, though just the last week I've been really getting my ear in on flipping patterns and changing clock rates on the new bar and also coherently dropping-in patterns in a 'drum-fill' type way :P

The way the BSP pushes me into actual hands-on conducting of programmed sequences and live manipulation of the patterns is growing my live composition skills.
I'm still using a linear sequencer to run polysynths but as far as the monos are concerned, they are all run by the BSP now (with percussion duties being shared, poly-rhythms FTW!)

Just upgraded and confirmed that the gate bug is still there.  No gate voltage output on step one (and any step tied to step one) the first time through a sequence when pressing play. DIN MIDI output is normal, and it's present on both sequencers.

VERY excited to try pattern chaining and wait to load, though.

I don't even have my MPC hooked up anymore (not going to quit using it of course, but don't need it for the current project now).  Build sequences on the BSP, jam with them and record it on a MidiREX (http://midisizer.com/midirex/) track, change the channels on the BSP and repeat until you have  full arrangement, then use the BSP to sequence transposition on the MidiREX. Among other possibilities.

It would be cool to be able to switch between classic and wait-to-load in hardware, though, since both are useful.

Hi,
To answer some questions :

->There will be a manual update soon

-> It works now/again with TS jack for Clock In.
If you use TS jack the BeatStep Pro will start when it receive a clock signal and you have pressed play.
Ex :
PLAY with No clock -> will wait clock signal and start when it receive a clock
Clock but PLAY NOT pressed -> will start when you’ll press play
If you use TRS the Beatstep Pro will follow the master and play with a high state signal and clock, pause with a high state signal and no clock and stop on a low state signal and no clock.

-> SHIFT+KNOB1/2 work with drum shift. It affect the played steps of the current sequence (if your sequence is 8 steps long, changes are only applied to this 8 steps and not the 64 ones)

You just beat me to this.

Yes, I want an updated manual as well. Too many changes / updates compared to first manual.

Thanks for the updated firmware Arturia!

The MIDI Control Center linked to from the page detailing the 1.3 update isn't the correct version...

http://www.arturia.com/company/news/update/beatstepproupdate

It installs the firmware update OK but doesn't have the functionality to set the 'Wait To Load Pattern' setting.  Took me a while to figure out I should download the one from the Support pages, which is the correct .429 revision.

Might be worth linking to the correct MCC version on the update page.

Sounds great :D
pattern chaining and wait to pattern end seems to work fine (i had to disable and then enable it again in the MCC to get the BSP work with this features...
will test the other new (cool!) features tomorrow.

-Is there a feature for edit the first step/beginning point of a pattern, too?!

-I had huge problems with random "held notes" using Midi Out -  is this major bug fixed too?

Has something  changed on the  roller/looper . I feel  something has changed but I don't really grasp what has changed.
What is the real difference between roller and looper ?

Actually I think the looper has been replaced by the roller in DRUM and SEQ mode . A new bug  ???

Hi, I don't follow looper loops in the 3 sequence modes and roller works with control mode when you hold a pad down

There is a change in the looper behaviour ,  I will try  restoire the previous firmware in order to sort it out and make comparison.

One of the new features is...

Input MIDI channels can be set using SHIFT + CHAN combination.

When I try this the BSP freezes (as soon as I press SHIFT+CHAN together).  Has anyone else got this to work?

Thank you for the update, all the new features are very welcome. 1.3 is running smooth at my place.

When the bug related to the swing feature is fixed, I'll be one happy camper. I still can't change swing while the sequencer is running, everything will go out of sync. The roller does not work with swing activated, same problem, everything goes out of sync.

Otherwise, good job  :)

Hi working fine here .make sure your fingers are away from the looper strip as the channel button is very close to this.

Can't quite put my finger on exactly what's different, but the roller/looper is much better with the new firmware, actually feels really musically useful now instead of being something I have to fight against to avoid timing problems.  Well done!
