Title: Playing whole sequence?
Post by: ctank909 on September 18, 2015, 04:46:32 pm
Hi, I know this is propably one of the top 100 most stupid questions ever(I read the manual and such), but why Beatstep do not play sequences in order(1-2-3...)? I mean, it playes only one pattern repeatly, even I have copied pattern 1 to 2 etc.?

It is not possible to chain sequences together I am afraid, you must change the manually.

I see!  ;D ;D :D

And this is supposed to be advanced sequencer...? WHAT, even Amiga Tracker software has better functionality.

When, the new sequence don't even start after old one is at end, but you supposed to press new sequence button in 1/16 bar to get perfect transition also...

Seems that arturia is making this new Ableton push, not stand alone sequencer.

We MUST get a playlist per sequencer, it shouldnt be so hard to do. And (I saw someone else mentioned also) that possibility that new sequence starts when old ends.

Glad I have 30 day return on this...

Hi when i first started testing the bsp about 3 months ago it did play to the end before changing sequence . I'm sure this will be a feature before not too long

You will be hard pressed to find a hardware step-sequencer that does have a song mode (pattern chaining) aside from dedicated drum-machines.  I have three step-sequencers and none of them have a song mode yet every drum-machine I've owned have had the feature.
What would be nice is the ability to change patterns via midi.

+1 for chain/song mode (call it what you want)

+1000 for finish pattern before switch/quantize pattern change/arm the pattern (call it what you want)

How long is "not too long"?
Haven't yet installed the newest firmware, but there is no mention of this in the release notes.

I forgot about them.  They still in production?  Ooh they are.  Nice price tag......

Saw a  Nemo for sale today (again with an over 1000 price tag) and looked up the SOS article on them which had a really good observation on step-sequencers:

Step‑based sequencers are designed for interaction; they're not about reproducing complete songs while you grapple with an unused knob on your mixer and bask in the adulation.
