Title: Rex Player Slicing
Post by: Croustibat on November 06, 2014, 06:25:32 pm
Hi All,

I cannot find a way to slice a loop and give the first slice to pad one, second slice to the pad two... I know how to slice but not how to put one or more slice on different button pads.
I saw a video telling its possible to do it.... what's the point to slice a loop if we cannot send slices of this loop on different pads...

appreciate your help on it... :)

Thanks.

Nobody wants/can help again?

I wonder the utility of a forum where nobody is able to help, or even to answer...
I was maybe wrong by buying Arturia's products...

I have looked and the only way i can find to assign slices to pads is load the same rex sample on to multiple pads and then change into mode 1 and select the slice you want to trigger on each pad

Im glad i took the time to look at it as i didnt realise you could pitch and rev the slices then switch back to mode 0 and play the entire mangled loop

I know nothing really about rex files and never use them so maybe someone else has more knowledge

Hi the rex sample cannot be split into drum pads but the idea was to add loop to your project and match the tempo , i  sometimes use this for adding percussion loops on a pad and then they play to your tempo .then i can add more drums to the other pad instead of using them for pref sounds.

Just to clarify what I wrote previously

From the manual

6.6.1.2  The REX player

The REX player has specific controls: For each slice you will be able to specify the pitch,
and whether the slice will play in normal or reverse mode.

SLICE - The Slice parameter is automatable, which means that you will be able to
change the playing slice in realtime or via automation.

MODE - Two playing modes are available, using the Mode knob. Mode 1 will play the
entire REX file starting from the first slice. Mode 2 will play the slices independently,
depending on the Slice automation param

So hopefully this will do what you require

Bump :)
Just got a SparkLE sorry :)

So.... The documentation is fairly vague...
when I turn the slice knob I can see slices being slected. I don't know how to trigger these slices though..

Hi .once you have your rex file loaded use the parameters to change how the rex file is played .so set the mode button to the full right .then you can use the slice to pick a slice you want to play random only works if you have mode set to full left..which will play the full rex at your tempo .
