Title: MMV 2.0 -- GREAT! :-) but very slow mouse response
Post by: Meffy on August 25, 2004, 03:10:11 pm
Well, I've downloaded and installed MMV2.0, and have mixed results to report. I'll be interested to hear from others... let's compare notes.

The new modules look fantastic! Everything I'd hoped for and even more. I like the option to choose modules for each slot in the second row; that's really nice and I didn't expect it.

Unfortunately, on my machine mouse response is VERY slow -- I have to click on a knob and hold the mouse button down for several seconds before the tooltip appears and rotation is visible. During that time, the program appears to be locked (cables don't move when the mouse goes near, for instance), then it comes alive again. As much as I love this version, I can't really use it like this.

Maybe it's because I'm running on an old P4 1.7GHz -- is that too slow a machine to run MMV2.0? CPU usage seems reasonably low, and I can play complex sounds without breaking up. I wouldn't think knob-twisting would cause trouble.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Other than that, version 2 looks fantastic. If I can get around the slow response problem, MMV2.0 is going to be even more amazing and useful to me than the first version was.

A thousand thanks to the Arturia team for this great upgrade!

Meffy

New modules? What are you talking about? I see they fixed what should have worked in the first place. Like the note off for the sequencer which is so much better now.

I wish hoping to download a PDF but it does not seem to be one available.

To see the new modules, click on the labels of the modules of the upper part slots ("envelope 1", "filter 1" , "vc lfo": a menu will appear, and you will able to choose them.
To get the phaser, click on the label "chorus"

I love it too! But when I open my older projects in FL studio, Some of my pre-sets show a totally different name but sound the same as the originals upon playback. very confusing. I'm sure this will be ironed out in a future update. Thanks for a wonderful Synth!

I'm also experiencing a delay when trying to turn the knobs.  What gives?

hello,

I am having the exact same problem as described at the top of this post. It is totally unusable as it is, and needs fixing asap. It happens in stand alone and VSTi

My system is;

Intel Pentium 4 2.4 ghz
Asus p4pe Motherboard
Echo Darla Sound Card running ASIO drivers
Windows XP sp1

if i leave the software running with a patch that remains static at 6% cpu usage in Mg modular 2, I look at windows xp task manager and see the cpu usage there is jumping around 14-22%.

If I then turn a knob or scroll the screen the cpu usage in windows task manager jumps between 70-95%!!

If I turn the graphics acceleration down from full I get a small improvement. All the other settings do nothing.

I have an ATI Rage 128 pro graphics card using the Windows XP supplied/certified drivers.

Do I really need a new graphics card to run this update?

Intel p4 2.4 ghz
ASUS P4PE Motherboard
Darla ASIO soundcard

The interval indications (+/- x semitones) on the sequencer knobs are gone ! I think there is no signal on oscillator 6 squarewave in LFO position.

slow mouse indeed.

greetings.

create a sequence and then import a new sound without altering the pattern or building the sound from scratch? Or load just a sequence and keep the sound? And haw do you use the ext. in? Trying to suss these questions out is costing too much time and creativity is suffering.
Thanks.
Rob

ps whats with the errors trying to post?

Hi,

I have the same problem and found this solution under cubase :
1- load mmv_efx as a VST insert effect in any audio channel in the mixer
2- edit  mmv8EFW : it is very slow
3- then load mmv as a VST instrument
4- edit MMV vsti : it should be OK

I tried the same think with psycle; it works too.

I tried with 2 instances of MMV vsti; it does not work
If you load VSTI first, it is very Slow and the efx is fast !!!

Hope it helps.

Here is another solution in standalone mode:
run Mg modular
go to the window and control one knob (very slow)
run a second instance of Mg modular
go to this second window and control one knob : it should be fast !
then close the first instance
on my machine, the second instance remains fast ....

MMV 2.0 has the same mouse problem on my Windows 98 machine, but not on my Windows XP machin

It makes the MMV unusable as a sound design tool for me.  I switched to 1.2 until Arturia offers a solution.  The new modules are very cool indeed, I wish I could use them on my studio machine

How goofy! But this works for me too in stand-alone mode.

Hello
This bug seems to be fixed. If you want to test a preview of a 2.1 version of the MMV, send me an email: xavier.oudin@arturia.com. I will send you a link to download it.
The official release of this version is waiting for the last developments of AudioUnit to be compatible with the next version of Logic.

Best regards
Xavier

Hi all.
I just noticed my last post in this thread is missing the beginning so allow me to ask again.

Is it possible to save (or load) just the sequence?
Times many I have created a decent sequence and wanted to try it out with a different patch. If we could keep the sequence (only) several patches could be tried/used on the same sequence without having to reprogram.
A small point but useful I think.

I downloaded this version and while it does fix this (and some other bugs also) I notice that I can't make controller assignments anymore (Ctrl-click on a knob in Windows).  It just doesn't recognize controller signals in other than the mod wheel in either DXi or Standalone.
