Hi,
When I'm playing the CS80v from a MIDI keyboard some patches produce no sound.
Strangley, the keys on the CS80v still go up and down as I press the keys on my keyboard but no sound comes out.
If I grab the mouse and click the CS80v's keys it plays fine.
This is only on certain patches.
It occurs standalone as well as in Cubase.
If you playback a part in Cubase on the CS80v it plays fine.
After a bit of experimenting last night I found that it only effected some of the multi patches and closing the cover on the multi part of the window cured the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?
Is this a performance problem with my PC perhaps? I'm running an XP2500+ at 1.83GHz with 512MB RAM. The processor usage isn't dangerously high (max 40%).

I am having the same problem. Several presets produce no sound at all. I will try what you do, closing the multi hatch and see what happens.

I have the same problem. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this?
-
Can you tell me a preset that's doing this so I can check it on my setup?
Thanks.

A couple examples:
Horns > J.M.B_Brass1
Pads > J.M.B_Classic_saw

I just tried both of those presets and they work fine with my MIDI controller. I'm at a loss to explain why it's happening for you. Sorry.
A couple examples:
Horns > J.M.B_Brass1
Pads > J.M.B_Classic_saw

What about the midi settings on your controller? Occasionally, if I've played a midi file via my keyboard it messes with the ranges and splits of the keyboard. Do you have a way to reboot your midi controller to its default setting?
Just a thought...

I too have had this problem since the beginning and on more than one keyboard.
The MIDI is clearly getting to the CS80-V, it just doesn't make any sound.
I can't think why I didn't mention this before....

Same problem here, I don't think the keyboard controller is to blame.

Exactly the same problem here :(
Master keyboard: Roland JD-800... goes through Miditemp MT16X to filter MIDI Active Sensing signal... before entering M-Audio Midisport 8x8/s interface.
Sequencer: Cubase SX3 with CS-80v loaded in VSTi-list
PC: Pentium D 830 3GHz , 2GB DDR2 667MHz, WinXP-Pro
Live played through Cubase MIDI-track (monitored): Moving keys but no sound :?
Played by recorded Cubase MIDI-track: Moving keys AND sound 8)
Example:
Bank: JM.Blanchet, Sub-Bank: Pads, Preset: J.M.B_Classic_saw.

This has always been a problem with me on all version of the plugin. I keep meaning to try a breath controller to see if it is something like that!
Anyway, yet another strange feature of this plugin :?

Set your keyboard MIDI-channel to Omni instead of a specific channel in stand-alone mode.
In Cubase set channel to All. Other hosts may have a similar setting.
That solved it for me a few weeks ago (if my memory serves me well) :)

On the CS-80V, there's also a midi channel parsing in the multi mode.
When using a multi preset, you can choose a particular midi channel for each of the 4 zones defined in the right part of the multi page.
Some of the factory presets may have some zones not configured on omni. In that case, the virtual keyboard is playing, but if your keyboard is not on the midi channel corresponding to the zone, it won't play anything.
Just select 'omni' as the midi channel of the zone, and it should fix your problem.
Best,
Nicolas
