Title: How to use SYNC between the two lines?
Post by: Patrice on May 20, 2009, 10:41:26 pm
I'm trying to use SYNC to synchronize line 1 on line 2:

I use a sawtooth on both lines, line 2 is tuned to 8' and line 1 to 5' 1/2.
The level of line 2 is set to 0.
The rest is by default (no filters, no envelopes, no effects...).

Now, I can't hear any difference, between SYNC being on or off.

Am I missing something?

I just tried it and I can hear a difference, so I don't know what to say. I'm using version 1.6 if that matters.

I also use version 1.6.

I will do some more tests, starting from different presets...

OK, I can hear it now but I expected something more spectacular.
It seems that with the fixed relative tuning of the two lines, SYNC is not very usefull.

Has someone found an interesting way of using SYNC?

I've haven't experimented with sync as of yet so I post out of ignorance but:

Doesn't sync work better if the oscillators use different waveforms?
Does the Osc detune slider work when the oscillators are synced?

The sync is very interesting when the frequencies of each vco could be much different.
On the original CS, it would be unuseful.
With the CS80V the only way to hear something, is to use the matrix modulation,
modulate the frequency of a vco, and use the sync option.
