I just encountered this unnecessary limitation of 240bpm.
The song I'm working on (a hard techno rendition of Korobeiniki, aka the Tetris theme song) ramps from 80bpm to 300bpm. Sure, I can do this via DAW control. But if I want to do it stand alone I can only go to 240bpm. Which just doesn't capture what I'm trying to do.
So please allow us to set the BPM range available.
