Unlike most Arturia products, which use Midi Control Center for firmware updates, MiniFreak seems to update ONLY via MiniFreak V.
I ran into some difficulties, so here is what DID work for me. I'm on a Mac, so this may or may not apply to other platforms.
- First I installed MiniFreak V from the MiniFreak resources page (https://www.arturia.com/products/hardware-synths/minifreak/resources)
- I tried to update within Logic Pro X, by loading the MiniFreak V plug-in with MiniFreak attached. The green Update button did nothing at all.
- I went to the MiniFreak resources page (https://www.arturia.com/products/hardware-synths/minifreak/resources) and downloaded the firmware file
- I successfully updated the firmware within Logic Pro X by using the downloaded file (click the "Upload from file" button), but ran into an issue: the preset sync stuck at 19%, locking up Logic Pro X - NOTE the update process took about five minutes, before the preset syncing
- I used Force Quit to exit Logic Pro X, and turned the MiniFreak off and on
- Loading MiniFreak V in Logic Pro X again, everything seemed to work fine (you have to press the red Link button to do the sync)
- I found out after I did this, i could have just loaded MiniFreak V directly from Finder instead of within Logic Pro X; maybe that's better
Hope this helps folks updating their MiniFreaks!

I can't find a download link for MiniFreak V on the MiniFreak resources page, or anywhere.

Never mind, I'm a pinhead.
Found the ASC installer.
Please get rid of the weird captcha thingy.

Download and sign into Arturia Software Center, it's available there
